Welcome!

On Sundays at 9.15am, 11.00am and (twice a month) at 7.00pm we all gather together to worship God in song, prayer, the reading and study of Scripture, and (once a month) the sacrament of communion. Though differing in content and structure from week to week, each service centers on the reading and teaching of God's Word in the Bible. The hymns and songs that we sing will usually reflect the themes that arise from the reading of Scripture. We regularly use responsive bible readings, Creeds and Confessions in which the whole congregation participates.

We are not especially "formal", yet neither are we so "laid back" that we lose sight of the King of Kings whom we have come to worship.

Style of Sunday worship

It is always difficult to describe a "style" of worship. Of course, we seek to be guided by Scripture in all that we do, say or sing, and to be reverent as we come before the Holy God together. We are not especially "formal", yet neither are we so "laid back" that we lose sight of the King of Kings whom we have come to worship.

Our services are a blend of hymns, psalms, and songs of praise, prayer, and proclamation. We sing newer compositions often in a modern and "upbeat" manner, but we also love our traditional hymnody sung in more traditional ways. We use both orchestral and band instrumentation and try to ensure that different types of music are used within each service. We have some wonderful musicians who help us worship, and we are always looking for more to join our various ensembles and bands. The pastors oversee worship but many different people take part in leading us, for example, in the prayers, reading Scripture, sharing their stories of God's work in their lives and so on."

Sunday Worship and the Arts

Our music and arts ministry contributes in many different ways to our worship. They are responsible for all our worship music, but also involve other arts in worship. See the Music and Arts Ministry Page.

Children welcome in Sunday Worship

Even though we offer Children's church, child care and Sunday School during our morning services, we want everyone to know that children are very welcome to stay through the whole service. There is a "baby room" with a window through to the sanctuary for parents whose younger children need feeding. The only thing we ask is that, during prayer or a sermon, crying babies should be taken out. The sermon is relayed into both the "baby room" and the foyer.

Dress for Sunday Worship

This ought not even to be a question as far as we are concerned! But many newcomers wonder what to expect. All styles of dress will be seen in our congregation. Some wear their "Sunday best" but most people dress more casually. We believe God looks on the heart, not on the outward appearance, so come dressed as you feel most comfortable.

Worship Philosophy

Through corporate worship, including the power of the Word, sacrament, song, creed confession and prayer, we glorify a Triune God. Our eyes are opened by grace to the beauty of the gospel, artistry, and creation. We are brought together in the power of a worshipping community and are drawn into the presence of a Holy God. We freely celebrate Christ, our justification and sanctification by faith in Him alone, and are propelled by the Holy Spirit.

Our primary role is to facilitate the worship of God, to undergird the scriptures with our artistic expression and to call others to a relationship with God. Our services are a blend of hymns, both ancient and modern, songs of praise, prayer, and proclamation, both orchestral and band instrumentation, rhythm sections, vocalists on mic and seasonal choir, piano-led, and thematically driven. Strong attention is placed on text and liturgical elements, both spoken and sung.
