The Music and Arts Ministry of ChristChurch Presbyterian seeks to glorify God through artistic expression. Through this expression our church, the surrounding community, and the world may be brought closer to God in worship, the arts, and the Gospel.

Our primary role is to facilitate the worship of God, to undergird the scriptures with our artistic expression and to call others to a relationship with God.

ChristChurch's participants include vocalists, instrumentalists, architects, graphic designers, poets, actors, directors, writers, videographers, dancers and painters. There are many opportunities for artists within our community to use their talents including our weekly morning worship services, our Sundays @ 7 evening events, our Advent, Christmas and Easter special services and events, and art shows to name a few. Through community, the artistic participants find a place of growth and encouragement. The various groups in which one may participate provide a myriad of opportunities to deepen one's relationship with God and others, while serving the Body of Christ with one's giftedness. Finally, the neighborhood and the world is reached by artistic expression by our art going forth from individuals and teams in various capacities.
Our ensemble members consist of vocals on mic accompanied by rhythm section and/or orchestral instruments. Rotation is weekly, once per month. Training includes facilitating and leading worship with understanding with attention to textual as well as musical elements. Emphasis is on a non-performance approach. Attention is placed in the areas of blending instrumentation and styles.
Our instrumentalists combine with guests from area educational institutions and symphonies at Christmas and Easter to accompany our special services. Our own instrumentalists gather on occasion to accompany our regular services, in addition to participating individually on weekly ensemble rotation.
With over 75 members and still growing, our seasonal Adult Choir is a wonderful way to praise, pray, lead, be in community, and just have a wonderful time! Accompanied by our in-house and guest instrumentalists, the choir does a variety of styles and leads our Christmas services and Easter services. Seasonal fellowship events as well as prayer and worship times are enjoyed in addition to rehearsals.
Our children join in worship with the Adult Choir to lead us seasonally as well as throughout the year in special services. Emphasis is on worship leading rather than performing and the children are also taught and encouraged to sing with textual as well as musical understanding.
Artistic elements such as drama and dance are utilized to undergird themes, bring out texts, convey the message, and highlight giftedness in order to glorify God and share this with others. We incorporate these elements in our seasonal worship events as well as occasional services throughout the year. We are grateful to have professional members of the Atlanta theater and dance communities in our church and are pleased to provide a format for this expression.
We utilize sound, lighting, powerpoint, graphics and a host of other opportunities for this key component of worship and arts ministries
A newly added show, this event will highlight and showcase our own talented poets, painters, industrial and graphic designers, architects, and musicians.
Centered upon a chosen theme, this event involves local gallery owners and partners at Atlanta's High Museum in the final selection of pieces submitted by artist from both the surrounding community and other states.
We are grateful for our Genema Gallery, a beautiful, light-filled space that is the foyer of ChristChurch. Newly renovated, the loft-like space has exposed brick walls, special lighting, and is flanked by our "Reader's Refuge" library space. Genema Gallery hosts regular art openings and closings and shows run in 6 week increments. One may enjoy everything from exhibits of photography, oils, and watercolors to mixed media.
Visual Artists' Fellowships
Seasonal events designed to encourage not only artists but also those simply interested in the arts to discover God's creative image through a variety of artistic media. By sponsoring various activities and event, the Arts Ministry seeks to cultivate in those both inside and outside the church and increased comprehension of the arts as an expression of God's transcendent grace and beauty.
