Getting Involved in Ministry

Perhaps the best place of all to get to know people and really feel you belong is to get involved in ministry. Don't wait for someone to come to you. At ChristChurch there are lots of ministry opportunities. There are numerous mercy ministry, music and outreach opportunities, just to name a few.

Perhaps the best place of all to get to know people and really feel you belong is to get involved in ministry. Don't wait for someone to come to you.

Men's Ministry

We want to give men at least one place in the world where they can encounter and, under grace, explore what God really intends for men to be. The men at ChristChurch get together for events throughout the year, and we invite you to be a part of this growing ministry. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Pete Jackson at 404-605-0505, or at petej@ccpnet.org.

Women's Ministry

Youth Ministry

We exist to glorify and enjoy God more fully and to bring others to the full enjoyment of Him. Since glorifying God is to worship Him, the ChristChurch youth ministry seeks to fulfill our vision through worship -- enjoying fellowship together as the body; growing in Christ-like maturity through discipleship; inviting others to the Savior through evangelism and responding to God's grace through ministry.

Children's Ministry

The Children's Ministry exists to assist parents in the nurture and education of their children in a loving and supportive Christian environment.

Children's Church and Sunday School provide opportunities for bringing Biblical truths and their applications to children's lives. Seasonal musical performances encourage praise and celebration through singing and drama. Vacation Bible School is a highlight of the summer for kids and volunteers. It is a fun-filled week of Bible teaching.

Please see our Children's ministry brochure.

College Ministry

Christchurch warmly welcomes you and all college students. One of our great desires as a congregation is to help you feel "at home" with us, even if you are only here during term times. Atlanta is home to over a quarter of a million students and a wonderful city in which to study. If you are new to the city and want friendship and a place to "belong" we would love to meet you. In a normal year we see students (under-graduate, graduate and post-graduates) from many different backgrounds and nationalities studying many different subjects all finding a church home with us.

Young Adults

We hold regular Young Adult lunches and there are many other opportunities to get to know each other and build lasting friendships in informal and fun situations. There are great opportunities to get connected to other 20 and 30-somethings in the metro Atlanta area, such as movie nights, sporting events and community service. If we don't yet offer the sort of thing you enjoy, take the initiative and let us know about it!

ChristChurch is a safe place to help you develop your faith, and we are here to help you get connected and involved in ministry in our church, and the city. One of the great things about ChristChurch is that it is OK to ask questions. The pastors encourage people to grow in their faith in this way. It is safe to express reservations or question what is taught, or to admit that you have a different viewpoint. We seek to come to know what God teaches us through his word, without judging each other! We want to become more Christ-like and know that we need each other.

Readers Refuge

Readers Refuge is a bookstore located directly off the church foyer. It has a wide variety of magazines and books, covering a variety of topics of interest to people who want to know more about Christianity. The books are available for you to check-out for a short period of time, or for a small donation you can keep them.

Missions Ministry

ChristChurch is dedicated to spreading God's name both internationally and locally. We support a number of international ministries, and many initiatives that seek to bring the Gospel to our own nation. We are also situated in the heart of the city and is surrounded by educational institutions. The opportunities are numerous.

Worship

The Music and Arts Ministry of ChristChurch Presbyterian seeks to glorify God through artistic expression. Through this expression our church, the surrounding community, and the world may be brought closer to God in worship, the arts, and the Gospel. Through corporate worship, including the power of the Word, sacrament, song, creed confession and prayer, we glorify a Triune God. Our eyes are opened by grace to the beauty of the gospel, artistry, and creation. We are brought together in the power of a worshipping community and are drawn into the presence of a Holy God.

Arts (genema gallery)

The Arts Ministry is designed to encourage not only artists but also those simply interested in the arts to discover God's creative image through the variety of artistic media He has given us. By sponsoring various activities and events, the Arts Ministry seeks to cultivate in those both inside and outside of the church an increased comprehension of the arts as an expression of God's transcendent grace and beauty.

In keeping with our mission, genema gallery, located in the Christ Church foyer, displays quarterly exhibits of local artists' works. From photography, to oils, to watercolors, to mixed media, and focusing on a variety of topics, these exhibits have become a mainstay of the Arts Ministry, both to the artist and to those who come through our doors.

Mercy

We are committed to serving the Lord in every area of life. What we call "mercy ministries" are many and varied acts of service and caring with which we are involved both inside and outside the church. The Bible reminds us so often to look after the needs of others:

"Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, and the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." James 1:27

The deacons oversee Mercy Ministries. They administer the funds, and they oversee and assist with special needs. We give time, financial aid and other resources to the following ministries:

Those in need in our congregation

Some of this ministry is obviously private and only known by the deacons. Whenever someone is in need, whether long-term or short-term, we week to do all we can by way of physical, emotional and material support. This is often a much bigger work "behind the scenes" than is realized. If you know someone in need or are yourself in need, please see one of the deacons of a member of the pastoral staff.

Buckhead Health and Rehabilitation

This is a nursing home for the elderly and indigent, located just up the street from the church. We bring residents to worship with us on Sundays, as well as for other special church events.

Shepherd Friends

This ministry reaches out to residents of Shepherd Place apartments located across the street from CCP. Shepherd Place is a halfway house for patients being treated for brain and spinal cord injuries at Shepherd Center, which is on Peachtree next to Piedmont Hospital. We seek to be great neighbors, good Samaritans and genuine friends to the residents and their families. Practically, we reach out to them with Welcome Bags, by visiting patients and their families, and hosting cookouts in their parking lot and other special events.

Good Samaritan Health Center

This private, non-profit charitable clinic is located in the Centennial Place Community in downtown Atlanta. Medical, dental and counseling services are provided for the working poor, homeless, jobless and recent immigrants. For more information check their website at

Summerhill Community Ministries

This is a community based Christian organization which exists to reach Atlanta's inner city youth and families for Christ. There are opportunities to help in such areas as after-school and sports programs, summer camps and family counseling. For more information check their website at

Victoria's Friends

This ministry befriends women who are caught up in Atlanta's adult entertainment industry. Every year, CCP puts together baskets to give to these women. These baskets provide a way to start relationships and reach out to these women.

Car Ministry

We accept new and used cars which are then given to those in need in our congregation.

Buckhead Christian Ministry

We provide financial support to this ministry which assists Buckhead residents who are struggling financially.

Knowing God

Christianity is often thought of as a cultural thing, something you grow up with or something that is more along the lines of tradition. It is often thought of as something which isn't really true but personal and subjective. It seems that when the Bible talks about the truth of the Christian message, it describes it as a truth which is really true, and not tied to personality, culture or experience.

Christianity could be described as a living relationship between a person and God, where that person has moved from knowing about God distantly, to knowing him personally and directly through the person of Jesus Christ.

If you are new to the Christian message, there are, no doubt, questions about the Christian faith which may keep you at a distance. We believe that Christianity does stand up to rigorous questioning and does level questions at us as we ask questions of it!

Christianity Explored

If you are looking for a forum to ask questions of the Christian faith or if you want to refresh your own convictions, then sign up for a Christianity Explored course. Over 7 weeks we enjoy a meal together, followed by a short talk, after which we break into much smaller groups for coffee and discussion. We aim to treat all questions with respect and welcome honest and blunt questions -- we are not easily offended!
